Relvin V. Asbury, Jr. is a recognized authority on the preservation and conservation of historic sites in southeastern North Carolina. He was a guide at Old Brunswick Town, and often gave his talks in period costume. He was Executive Director of the Historic Wilmington Foundation from 1972-1983, and helped incorporate the foundation in 1966 to help restore and rescue architecturally significant buildings in the Wilmington, NC downtown area. He was President of the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society from 1966-67, and in 1974 he won the Ruth Coltrane Cannon Cup, North Carolina's most prestigious award for outstanding work in historic preservation.
