Delmas Dennis Haskett (1911-2002) was a well respected local historian, genealogist and author. Through his 40 volumes of abstracted records, countless library donations, and outstanding research for the North Carolina Room, he was an invaluable resource of history and family genealogy, helping people from all over the country. He was most proud of his five volume set of Oakdale Cemetery records. He was a lifetime member of the Wilmington Light Infantry, and a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was chosen Genealogist of the Year by the Old New Hanover Genealogical Society, and "Library Friend of the Year" by the North Carolina Public Library Director's Association. Mr. Haskett is buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
