Percy Weston Wells (1880-?) arrived in Wilmington, NC with his family in 1895. Percy dreamed of becoming an aerialist, and he found success as a trapeze performer, known as "The Great Percino." Wells later turned his focus to managing in the entertainment industry, and he got his start working for his father's movie theater located on Market Street. Partnering with James "Foxy" Howard, he founded the Howard-Wells Amusement Company and, in 1906, the two men opened Bijou Theatre in Wilmington. The Howard-Wells Amusement company controlled most of the theaters in Wilmington through the early 1930s.
