William F. Adcock (1927-1982) was the founding conductor of the UNCW/Community Orchestra, now known as the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. He was on the University Music Faculty for many years and was the president of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association for several years. A scholarship is given in his name in the Music Department at UNCW.
