Portrait of Reverend Doctor John L. Fairly.
Rev. Dr. John L. Fairly (1888-1964) was born in Laurinburg, NC. He attended Davidson College and Union Theological Seminary where he earned a Doctor of Divinity in 1922. Rev. Fairly started as the Assistant Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, NC and then moved to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, NC as Pastor in 1924. During his time in Wilmington, he was very active in the community. Reverend Fairly also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Board of Christian Education which represented the Presbyterian Church nationally. He is buried in Laurinburg.
