Augusta Margaret Futchs (1895-1971) was born in Wilmington, NC and lived in the city all her life. She received her nursing certificate from James Walker Memorial Hospital in 1918, and worked as a nurse for the Red Cross in the 1940s. She is buried in Oakdale Cemetery. James Walker Memorial Hospital was constructed starting in 1900, and was in operation until the opening of the New Hanover Memorial Hospital (now New Hanover Regional Medical Center) in 1967.
