Louis Julien Poisson (1887-1961) was born in Wilmington, NC. He was educated in Wilmington Public Schools and Cape Fear Academy. Poisson attended North Carolina State College (now North Carolina State University)and the University of North Carolina Law School. He returned to Wilmington and began practicing law at the firm of Rountree, Davis & Carr. In 1913, he was appointed Special Assistant Attorney General, and in 1923 he was elected to the North Carolina General Assembly. Poisson also served as Chairman of Civil Defense for New Hanover County during World War II and was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Wilmington Public Library. He is buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
