William Dougal McCaig (1874-1951) was born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania. McCaig entered the railroad service as a young boy and worked his way through the ranks until he became Vice President of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. It is through this line of work that he came to Wilmington and he retired in Wilmington in 1949. He was active in civic and social affairs in the area and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. McCaig is buried in Oakdale cemetery.
