James Francis Post (1881-1948) was born in Wilmington, NC. He was educated in the public schools of Wilmington and attended Cape Fear Academy. Post entered the railroad service in 1900 as secretary to Horace Emerson, general freight and passenger agent of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company. He remained in the service of the railroad for his entire career, working for the Winston-Salem Southbound Railway Company and the Goldsboro Union Station Company, in addition to the Atlantic Coast Line Company. He was active in civic affairs in Wilmington and was a member of Grace Methodist Episcopal Church. Post is buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
