Frederick Hart Fechtig (1865-1951) was born in Hagerstown, MD. He began his career with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company in 1881, and over the course of his career, he became its Purchasing Agent. Fechtig worked with the railroad for 52 years, and at his retirement in 1946, he was the oldest railroad Purchasing Agent in length of service in the nation. He also served as the Director of the Oakdale Cemetery Company from 1931-1935, and was its president for ten years. Fechtig was active in civic affairs in the city and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. He is buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
