Duncan McEachern (1859-1925) was born in Wilmington, NC. He was in the wholesale grocery business and purchased an interest in the Holmes Grocery Company after the death of Gabriel Holmes. He also owned a naval store business on Eagles Island. He later moved to Castle Hayne, NC where he served as the postmaster. McEachern served as a member and chairman of the Board of County Commissioners from 1899 to 1900, and as president of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners from 1911 to 1913. He was a member of First Baptist Church and an early lot owner in Carolina Beach. He is buried in Bellevue Cemetery.
