Eric Norden (1869-1946) was born in Sweden and he immigrated to the United States in 1888. He first lived in the mid-west and later relocated to Wilmington, NC. Norden was a civil engineer specializing in land surveying and title research. He worked as an Engineer in Land Matters for the State Department of Public Instruction. Norden lived on Harbor Island, NC for many years until his home burned down in 1939. He was well-known in Wilmington as an avid collector of rare books and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. Norden's wife was a renowned violinist who performed across the country. Norden is buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
