Catherine, Eliza, and Alice deRosset were members of a prominent local family. They were some of the eleven children of Dr. Armand J. deRosset III and his first wife, Eliza Jane Lord. The family home still stands at 23 South 2nd Street in Wilmington,NC.
Catherine Douglas deRosset was born in 1830 and died in 1914. She married Colonel Gaston Meares, who fought in the War with Mexico and died serving in the Civil War. They had six children. For many years she was the president of the North Carolina Society of Colonial Dames of America.
Eliza Hill (Lossie) deRosset was born in 1834 and died in 1909. She married Charles Dominick Myers, and had 11 children, only seven of whom survived to adulthood.
Alice London deRosset was born in 1836 and died in 1897. She married Major Graham Davis, and had one child who died at birth. All three women are buried in Oakdale Cemetery, which was incorporated by their father and other citizens in 1852.
