Russian
parents
who
immigrated
To
Canada
. He
earned
his
M.D
. at
Southern
California's
Loma
Linda
University
. He
came
to
Wilmington
in
1939
to
serve
his
internhip
and
first
year
residency
at
James
Walker
Memorial
Hospital
.
DUring
the
1940's
, he
worked
at the
Babies
Hospital
in
Wrightsville
Beach
,
which
at the
time
was the
only
pediatrics
clinic
in the
state
. He
specialized
in
blood
transfusions
in
babies
suffering
with
anemia
. He
served
in the
ARMY
from
1942-46
and
treated
soldiers
at
Walter
Reed
Army
Hospital
in
Washington
,
D.C.
,
where
he also
studied
tropical
diseases
. He was a
part-time
Pediatrician
at
Knox
Clinic
Pediatrics
and
retired
at the
age
of
92
. He
died
of
congestive
heart
failure
December
23rd
,
2007
, in
Wilmington
,
North
Carolina
.
